The Reverend Eric F. Johnston, from Carleton Place and Toronto, was buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, France. When news of his death was announced, Dr. Chown said that they told him ” …that when the Canadian Tommies came out of trenches they all talked about how wonderful their chaplain who was on the front line with them.” The inscription on his headstone reads: “For Others” and “Loved and Laminated.”
